You know those pesky little stickers on individual pieces of fruit or individual veggies at the supermarket? They contain information that you should understand.
If a PLU (price look up) is five digits and begins with 9, that means it was grown organically.
If the code is five digits and begins with an 8, stay away! It was genetically modified.
A four-digit code means that the produce was grown conventionally, meaning with the use of pesticides and/or herbicides, but was not genetically modified.
