SOLE food: sustainable, organic, local, and/or ethical, according to The Ethicurean. You'd like to eat that way, but where do you find sources?
I stumbled across a site that can help: eatwellguide.org. I tried out their search function for my area, and it was great! All the farmer's markets I know of were listed, and several local farms. They list co-ops, CSAs (Community Supported Agriculture, where you can buy a weekly box of fresh food by signing up ahead of time), farmer's markets, farmers, stores, etc. You can also submit places that aren't yet included in their guide if you know of any. Give it a try. I know these are tough economic times, but they are tough for local food producers, too, who struggle with regulations meant for Big Ag, with increases in fuel and drops in credit access, with trying not to price themselves out of the market yet having to make a profit. With the global economic crisis, decreases in shipping across the globe, the coming consequences of Peak Oil, low food reserves worldwide, and more, some day your supermarket may find itself with empty shelves. Maybe not tomorrow or even next year, but someday. As Sharon Astyk says, we need to keep the small producers and sellers alive should that ever occur. It's a tough balancing act to buy ethically and yet stay within budget, but do give the matter some thought if you haven't yet.
Anyway, check out the site, and good eating!
