I saw this ad on a blog and couldn't figure out what it was:
Turns out it means "not of this world" and is a line of Christian clothing.
Yes. Christian clothing.
The selections are pretty barfy, needless to say. Particularly awful is a "one nation under God" shirt featuring a giant Ronald Reagan face. Although giving that item a run for the money is a graphic of Jesus' bloody hand. Description:
There was no greater "sign of love" than the one made by our Savior when his hands were pierced for our transgressions on calvary. This design features the official American Sign Language (ASL) sign for "I Love You" with a nail piercing the hand.
Nothing like torture and death to show us how to embrace life, right? But of course, this life, the one we live every day, is meaningless to the passionate Christian, who yearns to be united with God/Jesus/whatever in the afterlife.
It's ironic to me that Christians often accuse us nonbelievers of nihilism, of having meaningless lives. They're the ones who trivialize this life with their "not of this world" stuff. Well, I'm happy to be of this world and in this life, the only one I'm going to have.
I have to agree with PZ Myers: Christianity is a death cult.
